Release date: November 30, 2015
quilliup 2.2 is all about new connectors. Quality Gates is now providing the full connectivity to Qlikview along side some new RDBMS connectors and additional sources to our BIG DATA offering.
What's New in 2.2?
- Connectivity to Qlikview - QVDs and QVWs
- Connectivity to BIG DATA Hadoop
- Connectivity to BIG DATA Amazon Redshift
- Connectivity to IBM Informix DB
- Connectivity to Sybase
- KPI advanced abilities for relative comparisons
We also improved some of our features from last releases and fixed some bugs!
Check out our release notes to get some more info.
Quality Gates
New Features
Qlikview Data source
Qlikview connectivity enables dashboard validation by connecting to the different data sets that are QVW objects which assemble the dashboard.
Business tests alert on any abnormalities in data and assure that data is valid, consistent and complete. Dashboard technical validation can be done by using the connectivity to the front and back layers of the Qlikview, the QVW and QVD files. Loading process can be tested from source throughout the Qlikview layers till the final user report. Regression testing before deploying application modification is enabled by comparing the data from each version making sure there are no discrepancies.
Quality Gates supports local or remote connectivity, setting which server will carry the load when opening the data files.
The data source is defined as a folder pointer.
Files and objects are mapped at the data set.
Hadoop Data source
A new connection is now available under the RDBMS data sources category. All tests apply on this data source.
Amazon Redshift Data source
A new connection is now available under the RDBMS data sources category. All tests apply on this data source.
IBM Informix Data source
A new connection is now available under the RDBMS data sources category. All tests apply on this data source.
Sybase Data source
A new connection is now available under the RDBMS data sources category. All tests apply on this data source.
KPI advanced abilities for relative comparisons
Quality gates enables users to compare KPIs over time. The results of each execution are snapped, to enable the compare each KPI over time. For example, current value can be compared to the average value of the last 7 days, without performing any technical operation. This test is very relevant when data can changed over time and we want to make sure that the data changes within the business standard range.
Improvements
- Performance related improvements.
- Changes in the file as a source mechanism.
- Files can be filtered by a number of conditions, the single filter limitation has been removed.
- Support in decimal values and different decimal separators
- Handling columns formats in data set (dates, numeric, decimal...)
- A test and any executionable object can be disabled and skipped by any automatic mean of execution.
- Batch execution by tags or project is now enabled, with the flexibility to exclude specific items.
- Variables that are data set based can be defined using any of the supported data sources including files and Qlikview.
- Support null/not null operands in Data set Query Builder, handle null values when excluding specific values.
- Save message is now informative message to prevent confusion with success of operations and executions.
Bug Fixing
- Files bug fixing.
- Log results bug fixing.
- Threshold calculation bug fixing.
- Test results bug fixing.
Known Issues fixed in 2.2
- When working with multiple environments and deploy, recipients list from source environment will be deployed as well, and cannot be removed.
- Execution statistics in the test result section is displayed only at the end of the run and not during the process.
- Variables values are now presented in the results data or at the Email.
- Files where condition is limited to one column, '=' or '<>' operands.
- Script types Shell and cmd were not fully supported - all is supported in 2.2 under the CMD option.
- Excel file as a source rounds numeric values with an accuracy of over 2 decimal places.
- Issues related to source files that contain numeric values with a decimal value or a 1000 separator (,):
- Aggregation of the data is not supported.
- Format data of files is not supported for numeric values.
Known Issues
- Execution failures send an Email without the test meta data.
- Export to Excel is limited to ~150,000 records (this number can vary according to allocated memory).
- Remote server Qlikview data source (QVW) will display the full list of files, not just the one's that were published to the web. Users can select a non published file at the data set, which is invalid and non accessible. Administrator will be able to work around this issue by creating a file that will contain only the accessible files which will presented for selection to the user.
