Welcome to quilliup upgrade tutorial
This guide will introduce you to the quilliup upgrade process.
* * * Important * * *
It's advised to set test results location not under quilliup folder.
It can be saved under any other folder on the server or in a public folder,
make sure that quilliup service user has write/read permission on this folder.
Set test result location
Administration module -> System Settings -> General Settings -> System Properties -> Test result location
1. Pre requisites:
Back up all quilliup installation folder (C:\Program Files\quilliup)
2. Download the installation file from this location:
https://storage.googleapis.com/quilliup/quilliup_installer_64bit.exe
3. Enter the Apache Tomcat windows service Properties:
Services>Apache Tomcat>Properties>Log On
in case you are not logging as local system account remember the details of your account, you will need them in the upgrading process.
4. Run the upgrade file.
5. Choose the destination folder and agree to the License terms and conditions
6. Choose your server name and port number.
You can get this data from the config.properties file
Located under \quilliup\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\classes
* Allocated RAM- choose suitable value.
7. Select Tomcat User
In this dialog you can choose with which user will run quilliup service (Local System account or AD user) in windows services (from version 2.6.1.1).

Local System Account - this is the default configuration, meaning windows local user will run the service. In this case, there is no need to enter any connection details.

AD (Active Directory) account - in case you defined the windows service to run with other account, there is need to enter the following connection details:
Active Directory IP: IP address of the organisation AD server.
User name and password (AD user): name and password of the user which will run the windows service.
8. Select your repository type (MySQL for example)
- Enter the repository details and check them by clicking "Test Connection". Click Next.
* You can get this data from the file connection.properties (recommend to open with notepad++)
Located under \quilliup\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\classes
Your current repository details are unmarked.
*Pay attention:
Starting from quilliup version 2.6.1.9.2 you can choose to encrypt your database password.
If 'Encrypt Password' checkbox is marked => your password will be saved in 'connection.properties' file as encrypted.
In this case, please make sure you have a copy of your password in your passwords manager.
Test Connection:
9. Choose Kerberos environment (from version 2.6.1.8).
If you don't use Kerberos environment => leave check box "configure Impala Kerberos environment" unmarked.
If you have Kerberos environment installed => mark the check box and use "Browse..." button to browse relevant *.ini file.
Pay attention that if *ini doesn’t exist in file location => when clicking "Next" button a note will appear:
10. Click install to begin installation.
11. Click finish with\without the option 'Launch quilliup'.
12. Update the Apache Tomcat windows service Properties:
*For version 2.6.1.1 and up this section is not relevant
- Access quilliup service: Services>Apache Tomcat>Properties>Log On in case you are not logging as local system account Enter the details of your account.
- Restart the Apache Tomcat Server:

14. Important - Backup folders removal
Starting from quilliup version 2.6.1.9.2
After making sure that quilliup is up to date and working fine, please remove from your computer all quilliup backup folders to prevent security issues.
